Great sushi place in Monterey!Oyster starter on the house, you can taste the sea from it!Would definitely recommend the chicken katsu set, remember to add curry to it. So yum!Price is reasonable.

First time visiting, and everything was excellent. Only thing that could have been better was that the waitress didn't bring us water, which may have been a miscommunication. Recommend the Hamachi Kama.

Great location! The food came out quick and was delicious!The calamari rings are soft, flaky, and yummy. I’ve never had them this way before.The spicy edamame beans were also great. We got the spicy “mixed zone” and the “lighthouse”, both of which were very tasty!

The chirashi was tasty and fresh and mixed zone roll was good. Was not impressed with fire fighter roll. They told me 20 minutes for pick up but ended up waiting another 20 minutes there. Make sure to ask for soy sauce and chop sticks. They didn't put any in the bag.

Creative rolls, some spicy ones. Cozy atmosphere, reasonable service. Food is excellent for sure.

Amazing sushi Nd sashimi. Staffs friendly and quick serves. This will be our place to go from now on. Had to go back the next service the nigiri was so amazing have to get.

Due to the Wuhan Virus, the dining room is closed, but they will serve you on the out door patio picnic tables. Same great food with the service of takeout... I had a bento box with salmon and tempura.

Great sushi place! I love how the restaurant is a converted house. We got an unagi roll and chirashi bowl - I personally think that their rolls are more worth the price. Get the rolls here!

Cozy, with a fun assortment of specialty rolls. The only complaint I have is that the menu doesn't specify raw vs cooked fish (ordered a soecial salmon roll and it was cooked now raw as I expected). Otherwise it was a great, random stop in Monterey

We've been here twice. The first time I had some specialty rolls... I can't remember which. The second time I had chicken Udon. Very friendly staff, good portions and fair prices. Only the second sushi place I've visited in the area but it is the best. (Not a dig on the other place it was good too, this place was just more to my liking)

3/5*. Atmosphere is cozy home-like feel, with pleasant music playing in the background. Service was fast. Salad had good dressing. Spiderman roll $13.50 was good, but missing the traditional soft shell crab claws sticking out of the roll. Chirashi $22.95 was fine, but slices were unevenly cut and small, not as big portion as I expected; Sushi was fine. Overall food was fine but nothing memorable; atmosphere was better. 100 teacup display is neat. will try other places before I consider coming back. I would try udon next time.

Barely any seats for me and my boyfriend it was so busy. However Hannah greeted us when we found a spot and was quick to serve us our menus also the drinks and food. Us being from North Carolina thought they had some super sushi that was so fresh and delicious. Thanks so much for a good night at your restaurant

Normally this place is great. Food is always great. But service is hit or miss. I felt like I was an inconvenience for them tonight.

If youre looking for authentic sushi in Monterey, you should go here! Great chefs and service! They will drink with you if you offer and they also have freshly grated wasabi!!! We were on the hunt for an authentic place and we got one!

The sushi was amazing but I would highly recommend that you do not get anything but sushi. I got bento which took a long time to come out and was not very good. Salad was below average too. Their was only one waiter who was good at her job but very snobby. The restaurant was a bit dirty but not bad. The sushi is great but stick to that.

Great local spot in Pacific Grove for tasty sushi. They do not overcharge and the staff are attentive and nice. I recommend anytime in the mood for sushi.

Small, intimate environment, but the seating still feels spacious and comfortable. I have not felt like there was any breach in personal space or privacy. Even more compelling to me is actually the lack of over-the-top decorations--I appreciate how minimal they are here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Züm gives out a free appetizer of mussels which are delicious. The fish is incredibly fresh and makes this place a hidden gem. The menu for the rolls are full of pictures and the items are decently priced. I will keep returning here!The only thing I can complain about is the dessert-- for some reason, they can't fry green tea ice cream, but they can fry chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. I got the green tea mochi to fix my craving, but the plate only had two mochis that were sliced in quarters and had tempura flakes surrounding them. For so little I do feel that it was overpriced, but everything else about this place is so lovely that I am willing to simply skip dessert here.

Fantastic service and some of the best sushi I've eaten. Our family of 5 ate lunch here and it was kid friendly for our 10, 5, and 1yr old.

We were searching for a place to eat. It was walking distance from our inn. The place is very small and cozy. We were able to walk in and sit at the sushi bar. The staff and sushi chefs are very friendly. We sat at the sushi bar. The wait staff will take your order but you can still talk to the sushi chefs who are very friendly. The order arrived promptly and the sushi was fresh. They had fresh crab and uni available so we took advantage of those selections. Our two sushi rolls and uni tasted delicious. We almost didn't take any pictures of anything because before we knew it the food was gone. There were also beautiful flowers outside in bloom. Enjoy!

Zum sushi in Pacific Grove is one of our favorite sushi places. The owner serves fresh fish and his boats are always amazing. They are kind, food is fresh and prices are outstanding. There is also a patio outside that we enjoy. I highly recommend.

This restaurant is a cute little house with fresh delicious Sushi and awesome service. Our server Hannah had the kindest sweetest service and a great sense of humor. Felt like we had been friends forever! You don't wanna miss out!

It's small, you might want to make a reservation. We were lucky and got in after a 15 minute wait. Sat at the bar and enjoyed the hot sake while we watched our dinner be made. The food was fresh and fantastic. I look forward to eating there again.

Food taste is excellent, waiting time is horrible, even the time they take your card to swipe around 10 minutes maybe more, for round trip. The staffs will take your temperature before allowing you get in the restaurant, which is good but doesn’t help much for COVID, since COVID carrier doesn’t have to have temperature. Make sure you have the utensils you need before leaving. Recommend you to call in an hour ahead before you pickup. Or have them to pay the ultimate “price” by using “doordash”. I also recommend you to support local business.

Loved this place. Held our reservation and the service was great. They’re very diligent and all the sushi was very fresh and superbly prepared! Coming back for sure!

Amazing and fresh. Such a wonderful dinner experience. From the moment you walk in you feel like your coming over to your neighbors house for dinner. Light music playing classics and watching your dinner be prepared. Family run from the feel of it. Service was friendly and speed was excellent.

Excellent customer service

Wonderful sushi place. The staff were so kind and saved our evening after a different restaurant was rude to us. They make amazingly fresh delicious rolls. They served us in a boat which was fun! And we even got free mussles that were perfection. Will definitely go back when we return to the area.
